In a recent controversy that has sparked widespread attention, Haritha Reddy, the wife of Andhra Pradesh minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, found herself at the center of criticism following a viral video where she admonished a police officer for causing her delay en route to an event.

The incident unfolded in Annamayya district as Haritha Reddy was travelling to a local function. Seated in the passenger seat of a vehicle, the video captured her confronting sub-inspector Ramesh for making her wait for approximately 30 minutes.

She expressed her displeasure with the officer's handling of the situation, posing a series of pointed questions to him. "Isn't it morning yet? What event are you attending? Are you here for a wedding or on duty? I waited for you for half an hour. Who pays your salary? The government or YSRCP?" she reprimanded, as the officer listened silently.

Towards the end of the video, the sub-inspector saluted Haritha Reddy and proceeded as she instructed him to lead the convoy.

Social media reactions poured in swiftly, with a post on a microblogging site translating from Telugu, stating, "The minister's wife also desires royal treatment. Rubabu, wife of Minister Ramprasad Reddy, ordered the police to escort her to Rayachoti. The minister's wife, treating the police as slaves, warned them with a stern look. The frightened police... saluted her in helplessness."

The incident has fueled debates regarding VIP culture and the conduct of public officials, prompting discussions on social media platforms and drawing attention to the expectations and behaviours of public figures in India.
